WHERE THE ANGELS ARE–TRIBUTE AND FAREWELL TO UNCLE CHICK

   I wanted to write a tribute to my Uncle Chick who just passed away at the age of 93.  Though he was actually my cousin, he was always referred to as the Uncle of the family due to the fact his age was the same as my mother.  After his passing I learned so much more of his accomplishments during World War 2.  I decided to put this tribute in a song called WHERE THE ANGELS ARE.  The words are as follows:

I FELT SO SAD WHEN I FIRST HEARD TODAY,
THAT MY UNCLE CHICK (Charles but always called Chick)
HAD JUST PASSED AWAY.
THOUGH HE LIVED A FULL LIFE UP TO 93,
HIS PASSING GRIEVES MANY BUT ESPECIALLY ME.

MY MEMORIES OF HIM GO BACK A VERY LONG WAYS,
TO MY YOUTH AND SWEET CHILDHOOD DAYS,
I REMEMBER HEARING THEN AT A VERY YOUNG AGE,
HIS HEROIC WAR STORIES AND TREMENDOUS COURAGE.

MY UNCLE WAS A REAL MAN AS BRAVE AS HE COULD BE,
PART OF THE 101st AIRBORNE THAT STORMED NORMANDY,
HE DESERVED THE HERO’S WELCOME
AND THE AWARD OF THE PURPLE STAR,
BUT NOW HIS HIS REWARDS ARE IN HEAVEN WHERE THE ANGELS ARE.
WHERE THE ANGELS ARE HE’S THERE ON THAT STAR,
WHERE THE ANGELS ARE, HE’S THERE ON THAT STAR!!

HE WAS DECORATED TWICE FOR NOT BEING AFRAID,
AS A MILITIA PARA TROUPER ASSISTING A HITLER RAID,
HE BECAME WOUNDED WHEN BLOWING UP A NAZI TANK,
SO AWARDED BRONZE AND PURPLE STARS ESTEEMED HIGH IN RANK.

NOW THAT HE’S GONE, MISSED HE’LL SURELY BE,
FOR HIS SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY AND OUR FAMILY,
THOSE FAMILY REUNIONS WON’T BE LIKE THEY WERE BACK THEN,
WITHOUT HIS PRESENCE AMONG US EVER AGAIN.

I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO JEREMIAH

I think the saddest book in the Old Testament is the book of Jeremiah.  Jeremiah lived about 627 BC. and was chosen before he was even born to be a prophet to the Jewish Nations, namely the tribe of Judah.  He was known as the weeping prophet because he was selected not to even marry but concentrate on calling the people to repent.  God’s anger had kindled against HIS own people for their extreme wickedness and there were also many false prophets assuring the people that all was well in Zion but not so!!  Jeremiah was called to bring the true message to the people of repentance and that God’s judgement would fall if they would not listen.  One of the later Kings of Judah, Zedekiah was one that would not listen and led the people in continued willful sin!!  As promised, judgement fell on God’s people and the King of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar invaded Judah, killed many of the people and King Zedekiah’s sons and servants right before his eyes.  Then King Zedekiah’s eyes were put out and he was thrown into prison until his death. The people who were not killed such as Daniel were taken in as captives to Babylon for 70 years!!   God’s judgement indeed fell and he used their enemies to reign them in.  The very next book of the Bible is Lamentations and we certainly know why!!

How are we different then Judah?  This country has forgotten God and I worry that we too will be judged as God always does with Nations when they become very wicked.  I worry about the extreme wickedness that surrounds us even in our own Nation. Out of these thoughts, I wrote this song:

JEREMIAH WAS CALLED BY GOD, AS A PROPHET LONG AGO,
SENT TO WARN THE JEWISH NATIONS OF IMPENDING DOOM AND WOE!!
BUT ZEDEKIAH WOULDN’T LISTEN AND THE PEOPLE CONTINUED THEIR EVIL WAYS, UNTIL BABYLON FELL UPON THEM AND TOOK THEM AS CAPTIVES ALL THEIR DAYS.

KING ZEDEKIAH TRIED TO FLEE BUT ALONG WITH HIS MEN WAS OVERCOME,
FORCED TO WATCH HIS SONS AND OFFICIALS AS THEY WERE KILLED ONE BY ONE, THEN THEY BOUND THE KING WITH BRONZE SHACKLES AND COMMENCED TO PUT OUT HIS EYES, AFTER BEING THROWN INTO A DUNGEON, IN SORROW HE BEGAN TO REALIZE…

IF ONLY WE HAD LISTENED TO JEREMIAH,

WE SHOULD LEARN FROM HISTORY WHAT AMERICA FACES TODAY,
JEREMIAH CALLS OUT FOR US ALSO TO CHANGE OUR WAYS!!
WILL WE BE LIKE KING ZEDEKIAH AND CONTINUE IN WILLFUL SIN?
UNTIL GOD PUNISHES US THE SAME AS ZEDEKIAH FROM OUR ENEMIES WITHOUT OR WITHIN.

I STILL HEAR JEREMIAH CRYING OUT EVEN NOW IN OUR OWN DAYS,
TO REPENT AGAINST THIS GROWING EVIL AND TO QUICKLY CHANGE OUR WAYS!! LET US LISTEN TO JEREMIAH AND PRAY HUMBLY THAT IT’S NOT TOO LATE, SO GOD WILL NOT BRING JUDGEMENT ALSO THAT WOULD BRING A TERRIBLE FATE!!

GOD’S WARNINGS

In Isaiah 5:20-21, we will read the following:

“WOE TO THOSE WHO CALL EVIL GOOD,
AND GOOD EVIL,
WHO PUT DARKNESS FOR LIGHT,
AND LIGHT FOR DARKNESS,
WHO PUT BITER FOR SWEET,
AND SWEET FOR BITTER.

WOE TO THOSE WHO ARE WISE IN THEIR OWN EYES,
AND CLEVER IN THEIR OWN SIGHT.”

Wow!!  Does this ever speak to me because aren’t we doing just that today?!!  Even though this was written to the Jewish Nation long ago even before Christ, sin never changes.  It just repeats itself down through the centuries!!  However, I feel that there was a time we did have a lot of goodness in this Nation but now we are slipping deep into the abyss and reversing good and evil.  That which was evil when I was growing up now is labeled good and that which was good years ago, is now labeled evil!!

Who are we to listen to?  Who are we to believe?  How about God!!  Isn’t God the one who makes all the rules and tells you the difference of what HE considers to be good and what HE considers to be evil?  Our culture now is dismissing God and what HE declares to be true in HIS word and man is now becoming the one to determine good vs. evil.  Without God, everything now is upside down and people walk around confused and don’t even know what is right or wrong anymore.

The Bible is our guide and road map.  If only we would read it and observe it’s truths.  They are truths because God spoke it and said. “I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life.”  Pondering on this serious scripture, I wrote the following song:

GOD GAVE MANY WARNINGS TO ISRAEL LONG AGO,
AND WITH EVERY WARNING, HE PRONOUNCED EACH WITH A WOE,
THESE WARNINGS ARE IMPORTANT AND PERTAIN TO US TODAY,
AND IF WE HONOR GOD, HIS COUNCIL WE’LL OBEY.

HIS WORD  WRITTEN IN THE HEAVENS HAS FOREVER STOOD,
AGAINST CALLING GOOD EVIL AND CALLING EVIL GOOD.
WE’RE NOT TO PUT LIGHT FOR DARKNESS OR DARKNESS TO BE LIGHT,
THE DAY THAT RISES WITH THE SUN CANNOT BE CALLED THE NIGHT.
THE DAY CANNOT BE CALLED THE NIGHT,
THE DAY CANNOT BE CALLED THE NIGHT,
WHEN THERE IS LIGHT.

LET’S NOT CALL GOOD EVIL OR CALL EVIL GOOD,
BUT HEED GOD’S WARNINGS AS WE KNOW THAT WE SHOULD,
LET’S NOT CALL LIGHT DARKNESS, OR CALL DARKNESS LIGHT,
WHEN GOD’S WORD SAYS IT’S WRONG, THEN WE KNOW IT ISN’T RIGHT!!

SUCH FOOLISH THOUGHTS AND NOTIONS, WE SHOULD STOP AND SHUN,

ALWAYS BITTER ARE THE LEMONS, ALWAYS SWEET ARE FIGS AND DATES,
TO CALL BITTER AS SWEET ARE ALSO THINGS GOD HATES,
CONFUSION RESULTS WHEN WE CALL THINGS WHAT THEY ARE NOT,
AND GOES AGAINST GOD’S WORD AND THE THINGS THAT JESUS TAUGHT.

LET’S NOT CHALLENGE GOD THAT WE ARE WISER THAN HE,
THE ONE WHO CREATED EVERYTHING AS FAR AS WE CAN SEE!!
IF WE REALIZED HIS POWER AND GREATNESS, WE’D QUICKLY CHANGE OUR TONE, AND SURRENDER ALL WE HAVE FOR HIM AND HUMBLY BOW BEFORE HIS THRONE, HUMBLY BOW BEFORE HIS THRONE WE WOULD, HUMBLY BOW BEFORE HIS THRONE AND PRAISE GOD.

FOUR THINGS TO HEAL AMERICA

  Our country is in trouble in so many ways, financially, morally, and corruption and crime is becoming more and more rampant.  America has always had problems but I am now living at a time where I have never seem so much confusion and chaos!!  My heart is breaking for this country that I love so much!!  I wish more than anything that we could have peace and harmony once again in this beautiful land.  My opinion is that it will never happen unless the people return to God. Only God can solve the mess we are in.  The Lord made it clear in HIS word that if we love and serve HIM, HE will be our protector and bless our land.  Now God has been kicked out of our country and it is just growing worse every day.  I wish that the people of America realized why these bad things are happening to us.  However, I never give up hope.  I pray for our country to return to God!!

There is a beautiful scripture in the Old Testament given to the people of Israel.  It is found in 2 Chronicles 7:14 and says:  “IF MY PEOPLE WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME WILL HUMBLE THEMSELVES AND PRAY AND SEEK MY FACE AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, THEN WILL I HEAR FROM HEAVEN AND WILL FORGIVE THEIR SIN AND WILL HEAL THEIR LAND.”  I absolutely love this scripture!!  Though God revealed this to the Jewish Nation, I believe it applies as well to those who seek God and want to serve HIM.  Because of my concern for America, I wrote the following song as a plead to us all to do 4 things this prayer requires.  1. Humble ourselves, 2. Pray, 3. Repent and 4. Seek after God.  If we could just follow and do those 4 things, I know America would be back on track and a prosperous and blessed Nation again!!

OUR COUNTRY IS ROTTING FROM DEEP CORRUPTION WITHIN,
HEALING IS NEEDED FROM THE MAGGOTS OF SIN.
THE BUZZARDS ARE CIRCLING ABIDING THEIR TIME,
AS THEY WAIT FOR AMERICA’S FALL AND DECLINE!!

BUT GOD GAVE US A PROMISE IN HIS HOLY WORD,
SOMETHING IMPORTANT FOR US TO OBSERVE,
LIKE ISRAEL HE WILL HEAL OUR LAND TOO,WITH 4 SPECIFIC THINGS THAT WE MUST DO.

THE HEART OF THE WISE

  In these politically correct times, it is not popular to lean to the right!!  Infact it is just the opposite.  We are expected to all lean to the left!!  This is what happens when the Bible is no longer relevant in our lives.  Yet it is interesting what the wisest of all men recorded about this.  He said the following in the Book of Ecclesiastes:10:2, “THE HEART OF THE WISE INCLINES TO THE RIGHT BUT THE HEART OF THE FOOL TO THE LEFT.”  He also wrote the Book of Proverbs which is filled with wonderful and great words of wisdom!!  This wisdom came to him as a gift from God.  He was King Solomon, and became King after the reign of his father, David.

     It is also interesting what Jesus had to say about the right and the left.  He said in Matthew:25:31 that when he would return, that all the nations would be gathered before him and he would separate the people.  On the right he would put his sheep but on his left, he would put the goats.  The ones on the right are those who followed him, but the ones on the left are those who rejected him.  Those who followed him are invited to the marriage supper of the lamb (Rev. 19:9) but those who reject him are cast out!!  How important is it to be popular with the world and lean to the left if we lose our very souls?!!   Pondering on those words out of our Bible, I wrote and composed the following song:

A GREAT HARVEST IS COMING, JESUS MADE IT VERY CLEAR,
A WEEDING OUT OF ALL NATIONS, WHEN HE RETURNS HERE.
JESUS WILL PUT HIS SHEEP ON HIS RIGHT, THOSE WHO LOVED AND FOLLOWED HIM,
BUT TO HIS LEFT, HE’LL PLACE THE GOATS, THOSE WHO DELIGHTED IN ALL SIN,
AND REJECTED HIM!!

AFTER THE SEPARATION, JUDGEMENT FOR ALL NOW TAKES PLACE,
THOSE ON JESUS LEFT ARE CAST AWAY WITH SHAME AND DISGRACE.
BUT THOSE ON HIS RIGHT ARE SO VERY BLESSED WITH AN INVITATION TO ATTEND,
THE MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB AND WITH JESUS TO HEAVEN ASCEND.

JESUS IS MY RIGHTEOUSNESS 2

One of my favorite scriptures is found in 2 Corinthians 5:21 and it reads as follows in the King James version: “FOR HE HATH MADE HIM TO BE SIN FOR US, WHO KNEW NO SIN; THAT WE MIGHT BE MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM.”  I absolutely love this scripture and am so thankful for what it means to me!!  Jesus who was perfect traded his perfection for my imperfection!!  I picture myself wearing filthy rags, my head hung in shame as I even try to look at my glorious beautiful Savior.  However, because of his tremendous love for me (putting it on  a personal level) he took my filthy rags off and put them on himself as he was putting his  beautiful spotless white robes on me.  It was an exchange made in my behalf when he took my sins on himself that day he hung in agony on the cross.  And of course, he also did the same for everyone who chooses to come to him.  Pondering on that scripture I wrote the following song a number of years ago but decided to make another version of it.  The words are as follows:

JESUS IS MY RIGHTEOUSNESS,
I HAVE NONE OF MY OWN.
ALL MY SINS WERE LAID ON HIM,
ONLY HIS DEATH COULD ATONE.

HE WHO KNEW KNOW SIN.
BECAME SIN FOR ME.
SO I COULD BE MADE RIGHTEOUS
IN HIM FOR ETERNITY. ( 2ND CORINTHINANS 5:21)

Judy Lee’s Mama Killdeer Video

Since Mother’s Day will soon be here, I wanted to repost a song I wrote two years ago in the early spring about a Mama Killdeer bird. I ran across her accidentally while working in my flower beds and the entire story in written in my song. I observed her from the very beginning when she sat on her nest until the end when her little ones hatched.

Who would ever think that her little ones would actually come out on Mother’s Day but they did!! I remember how special that event was when she paraded her little chicks under my window!! How cute they were, like cotton balls on long tooth picks!! That event added much anticipation and joy to my life, so much that I made it into a song. Here is a reposting of that event.

LET THE CHILDREN COME

How can we doubt how precious little children are to God when we read the scriptures?  Mother’s Day is nearly here when we honor mothers who devote their lives to the care and upbringing of their little children.  I love the story told in the gospels of the time when Jesus was about teaching the people and some of the parents brought their little ones to Jesus to be blessed.

Some of the disciples were annoyed with their presence and actually rebuked the parents for bothering Jesus with something they thought was so unimportant.  However, Jesus was displeased with their attitude.  Instead of turning the children away, HE told them to bring their little ones close to HIM.  Jesus then held them tenderly in HIS arms and blessed them.

Imagine to be a little child in the arms of Jesus!!  Jesus also took the opportunity to teach a very great lesson to HIS disciples.  HE no doubt pointed to one of the little children on HIS lap when HE said this, “SUFFER THE LITTLE CHILDREN TO COME UNTO ME, AND FORBID THEM NOT; FOR OF SUCH IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD.  VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU, WHOSOEVER SHALL NOT RECEIVE THE KINGDOM OF GOD AS A  LITTLE CHILD, HE SHALL NOT ENTER THEREIN.”

Contemplating on this beautiful scripture about Jesus and the children, I also thought of my own children and grandchildren and how much Jesus loves them.  And I also have the assurance that my little Lisa Ann who lived but 3 short hours on earth has been in HIS loving arms waiting to see her mama someday.

Pondering this scene, I wrote and composed the following song:

SOME PEOPLE BROUGHT THEIR CHILDREN
TO JESUS ONE DAY,
MANY OF HIS DISCIPLES FELT THAT
THEY WERE IN THE WAY!!
SO THEY REBUKED THE PARENTS.

AND BLESSED THEM ONE BY ONE,
THE DISCIPLES KNEW THEN THAT
THE CHILDREN SHOULD COME,

Jesus, the master teacher taught in parables.  Parables were stories that the people, including us to today can relate to.  They help us understand more about the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven.  Jesus intends for those who seek HIM to understand the things HE wants us to know.  These precious teachings pave the way for us to be with HIM someday.  That should be the goal of every single Christian, to be with our Lord.  Therefore we should study HIS parables and come to understand the important messages they contain.

  I wanted to write a  song about the parable in Mathew 20.  Because Jesus ended it by saying THE LAST WILL BE FIRST and THE FIRST WILL BE LAST,  I decided to title it with that.  As human beings we tend to think of ourselves better if we are the first to get something done or the first at anything we achieve.  We boost our egos with thinking God will really be pleased with us for just being the first.  However, this parable completely abolishes any such idea.  There are several messages to me within its contents.  One is that there is no seniority with God.  Because of HIS sovereignty HE can do as HE pleases with any of us.  If HE wants to show generosity to those who are last, HE will do just that.

We should not covet those that HE does show generosity to as happened in this parable.  This parable also shows us that we should have gratitude for HIS wondrous generosity in everything HE does.  We really deserve nothing but instead God blesses us with HIS gift of grace through HIS wondrous Son, Jesus.  The blessing of entering HIS kingdom is not on our merits but on the sacrifice of HIS son.

Heaven is acquired not from us being the first to respond to HIM but the fact we do respond (faith and belief in HIS son) and those who respond even later are not denied that grace.  Sometimes we think we should have a higher reward because we have worked so hard in HIS kingdom while others have come late and not spent the long hours that we think we have spent in service to HIM.

Indeed  Jesus wants us to serve but even at that says we are only doing what is expected of us.  Even then HE said we are still unprofitable servants.  Man tends to judge others by their outward appearance or performance but God always looks inside of our hearts. .  Perhaps you may see something different in this parable but this is basically the message I received.  The words to my song are as follows:

TO FIND WORKERS FOR HIS VINEYARD,
AT THE MARKET PLACE THAT DAY.

 HE SAW MANY MEN DOING NOTHING,
STANDING IDLE NEEDING WORK,
SO HE INVITED THEM TO LABOR IN HIS VINEYARD,
A CALL THEY DIDN’T SHIRK.

DESIRING TO FIND EVEN MORE.

AND WAGES EQUALLY DISBURSED.

GRUMBLED ABOUT RECEIVING EQUAL PAY,
THEY COMPLAINED THEY SHOULD RECEIVE EVEN MORE,
FOR BEARING THE BURDEN AND HEAT OF THE DAY.

 “I DID YOU NO WRONG,
DID YOU NOT AGREE FOR A DENARIUS TODAY?
DON’T BE ENVIOUS BECAUSE I AM GENEROUS,
TAKE IT AND BE ON YOUR WAY.”

 FROM THIS WE LEARN THAT GOD IS THE LANDOWNER,
HIS GRACE IS GENEROUS TO EVERYONE,
SOVEREIGN TO DO AS HE WISHES,
REGARDLESS OF THE HOUR WE COME!!

 CLOSING

 WHETHER COME COME LATE,
OR GET AN EARLY START,
GOD’S NOT CONCERNED WHO IS FIRST,
BUT WHAT LIES WITHIN OUR HEARTS.

ALL FOR HIS GLORY

  Contained within the scriptures are nuggets of pure gold, words that bring us wisdom, knowledge and life.  We have such a wondrous God who has such a wondrous love for us.  He never planned to leave us alone without his road map to guide us through life.  This road map is found within HIS holy scriptures.

     Jesus represented that holy word when he walked on the face of the earth.  He is called more than one, THE LIVING WORD.  He taught his disciples so many wonderful truths.  He told them in John:15 that he was the true vine and they were the branches.  Without abiding in the true vine, they could do nothing..  They would not be able to produce fruit of any kind without remaining in Jesus. A branch left to itself will whither and die .  It needs its life source which is the vine or the tree.  Jesus as the true vine is our life source!!

  He also taught them to let their light shine before others not to glorify themselves but to glorify our Heavenly Father.  Everything we do should always be for the glory of God and never for ourselves.  The book of Isaiah 43:7 even lets us know that we were all created for his glory.  Jesus sacrifice for us is what merits our salvation.  We are totally helpless within our sinful nature to achieve that.  However, when we abide in our Lord, he works out through us the fruit of the spirit which produces those things that glorify him.  It should always be our goal to produce the fruit of the spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, long suffering, gentleness, and self control. Those good works produced by the spirit are what will always glorify our wondrous Lord.

     Pondering on those nuggets of truth, I wrote the following song:
