SHINE

Awhile back I wrote and composed a
musical piano piece I titled, BREAK OF DAWN and recorded my
song as I was playing it..  Then I decided to use it
for background music to a special moment in my life with my
wonderful son, Brandon.  Though this happened a number
of years ago, I still have memories of that special
day.  I decided to put it into a reading with my own
musical composition.  I will write the narrative so
that you can follow my story better as you listen.  It
is as follows:

I was having one of those really
bad days.  To make it worse, as I looked out the
window, I could see dark clouds forming in the sky and hear
the rain begin to fall and the crash of the thunder.
The feeling of deep depression overwhelmed at that
moment.  I wanted all my problems just to go
away.  I could see no beauty in anything and had
forgotten the wonderful blessings God was so good to give me
me such as my son, Brandon.  He was always such a happy
kid and never had a negative thought that I could ever
remember.  He always looked on the bright side of
everything.

And even in those days he was a
wonderful artist and loved to paint.  Most of his
pictures were even of himself doing the things he loved such
as skateboarding, snowboarding and surfing which he still
loves to do.  He wasn’t home at that moment but I
noticed he had left me something he had made on the kitchen
counter.  It was a painting just for me on a piece of
stand up cardboard.  He had painted himself against a
blue sky holding a beautiful sunset in his hand.  He
titled it SHINE and then wrote a message beneath it.
Before he left he saw my sadness and in his thoughtfulness
had left this painting and note to comfort me.  This is
what I read:

MOM,

WITHIN EVERY DARK CLOUD IS A SUNSET,
ON IT’S DARKEST DAY IT WAITS FOR US TO LOOK AND NOTICE,
WE DO NOT,
THOSE WONDERFUL COLORS THAT HAVE BEEN SHINING AND GLOWING,
WE DON’T SEE,
THE BEAUTY LYING ON THE RIDGES OF THE DARKEST MOST HIDEOUS
CLOUDS,
IT RADIATES AND SAYS LOOK INTO THE SUNSHINE, EVEN
ON MY DARKEST RAINY DAYS.

LOVE YOU MOM,  SHINE!!

LOVE, BRANDON

I could hardly hold back the tears
after reading this and ran to the window to see if there
would be a beautiful sunset to brighten my my day.
Although I didn’t see a sunset, I saw something equally
beautiful, an arched rainbow with all the colors of the
spectrum of red, yellow blue and green.  And then I
heard some birds singing and suddenly I realized God is
wonderful and life is beautiful after all.  I love you,
son!!
