Jesus called himself THE LIVING WATER, THE LIVING BREAD, and the apostle John and Paul called him THE WORD OF LIFE or THE LIVING WORD. John begins his gospel with “IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD, AND THE WORD WAS WITH GOD AND THE WORD WAS GOD.” He continues to say that he is our creator and that he took upon flesh and walked among us. Of all the gospels, it seems that the apostle John points to the divinity of Jesus more than all the others.
The apostle Paul suffered many hardships from the enemies of Christ and was beaten many times and suffered chains often in prison. Yet in the Book of Phillippians, Paul rejoiced in his afflictions and admonished all believers to rejoice for the privilledge of suffering for Christ and admonished them to “HOLD FORTH THE WORD OF LIFE.”( Php.2:16) as they were going through those hardships.
Timothy, in 2nd Timothy 3:16 also affirms the diety of Christ when he says, “AND WITHOUT CONTROVERY GREAT IS THE MYSTERY OF GODLINESS, GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, JUSTIFIED IN THE SPIRIT, SEEN OF ANGELS, BELIEVED ON IN THE WORLD, RECEIVED UP INTO GLORY.”
The apostle, John also says in John 1, the following: “THAT WHICH WAS FROM THE BEGINNING WHICH WE HAVE HEARD, WHICH HAVE SEEN WITH OUR EYES, WHICH WE HAVE LOOKED UPON, AND OUR HANDS HAVE HANDLED, OF THE WORD OF LIFE.” All the apostles were in complete awe of the majesty and glory of Christ when they declared they had “beheld his glory.”
Reflecting on these beautiful scriptures, I wrote the following song: THE LIVING WORD. As I was creating the melody and lyrics at my piano, Kaylynn, a 17 year old girl came to join me in my song. She and her family of 8 are now a part of our ranch family. Kaylynn is a young beautiful Christian girl who truly walks with the Lord. I was thrilled to have her join with me on the song I was putting together. We had a lots of fun doing this because she truly believes in Jesus and knows he indeed is THE LIVING WORD. The lyrics inspired by the scriptures are as follows:
IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD,
AND THE WORD WAS WITH GOD,
AND THE WORD WAS GOD.
AND THE SAME WORD BECAME FLESH,
DWELT AMONG US ON THIS EARTHLY SOD.
THOUGH HE CAME UNTO HIS OWN,
HIS OWN RECEIVED HIM NOT,
YET MANY CAME TO BELIEVE,
IN THE WONDROUS THINGS
THAT HE TAUGHT.
