All over the world man is trying to find a way to get right with God. All religions except for Christianity teach that man has to do something in order to reach God or earn his place in heaven. However, the Bible proclaims that all man’s achievements or works are nothing but filthy rags.
We are hopeless within ourselves to accomplish an impossible task of making ourselves presentable before a very holy and righteous God. It takes only one sin to bar the entrance of heaven for us. We all fall short of the Glory of God, no matter how good we think we are or try to be.
Therefore God sent his son to be our righteousness and settle the sin issue by taking them on himself in exchange for his perfection, for in Him was no sin. On the cross he paid the price for all our sins in full. The requirement for us is but to believe and receive this gift. We should receive it with gratitude and love for his tremendous sacrifice.
After receiving we should let His Holy Spirit work inside of us and conform us to His image. Knowing that he first loved us touches our hearts and we respond back with love for Him by letting Him produce the fruit of righteous living within each of us. We become new creatures in Christ and the good works we produce are all to His glory and not our own.
A careful study of the New Testament and writings of Paul, especially the Book of Romans, Galatians, and Ephesians explains this so beautifully. And of course, John 3:16 summarizes the gospel in a little capsule. ”GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.” We first of all believe and then we receive.
We believe by putting our faith and trust in God and not ourselves for His righteousness and then receive his wondrous gift of Eternal life which is living with Him forever in his beautiful Kingdom he has prepared for all those who love Him. In gratitude for God’s wondrous love and gift and to help others understand the good news of the gospel, I wrote the following song:
WE DON’T ENTER HEAVEN, BECAUSE WE THINK WE’RE GOOD,
OR DOING ALL THE MANY THINGS THAT WE WISH WE COULD,
THE LAW IS LIKE A MIRROR THAT SHOWS WE ALL FALL SHORT,
AND DRIVES US TO THE CROSS OF CHRIST, HE’S OUR ENTRANCE AND PASSPORT.
IT TAKES ONLY ONE SIN TO BAR THE DOOR TO US,
HEAVEN’S GAINED NOT BY OUR WORKS, WE CAN’T BE GOOD ENOUGH!!
ONLY THROUGH THE BLOOD OF CHRIST DOES ANY ENTER IN,
HE’S THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW WAY, WE MUST TRUST AND FOLLOW HIM!!

IT’S NOT A LADDER OF ENDLESS WORKS TO EARN ALL WE THINK WE SHOULD,

THE GLORY BELONGS TO JESUS, WE CLAIM NOTHING FOR OUR OWN,
BY HIS PAIN AND SUFFERING, WE ENTER INTO OUR ETERNAL HOME,
YET WHILE ON EARTH WITH ALL OUR HEARTS, WE’LL SERVE OUR LORD AND KING,
TO PRAISE AND THANK HIM FOR HIS GIFT, THROUGH PRAYER FOR EVERYTHING.
