Jesus told us that in this life we would have sorrow and tribulation but HE also told us to take heart because he had overcome the world. He assured us in his word that HE has prepared a beautiful place in Heaven for all of us who trust in Him and our sorrows one day would end. He reassured Mary who was grieving over her brother, Lazarus that HE was the resurrection and the life and whoever believed in him, though he were dead, yet shall he live!!
The death of our loved ones is perhaps the greatest of all our sorrows that we experience in this life. However, because Jesus died himself and was resurrected, we have that hope and assurance that our loved ones will live again and one day we will be reunited with them in his beautiful heaven. What a blessing we all have to look forward to!! This life is not the end but only the beginning to this beautiful and faithful promise from our Lord!!
This past year and a half has been a heartbreak for me since I lost both my husband and recently my mother. I was with them both when they passed. Even though I know the Lord’s promises, I have struggled hard with their loss. Out of my own pain came this song which expresses the same pain that Mary felt but ends with the our Lord’s assurance that HE is with us always through our trials and hardships. Jesus was our own suffering servant and understands all our sorrows. What a wondrous and marvelous Savior!! May we trust in HIM in all we do.
